>> Mr and Mrs Smith
Its got sex, its got secrets, its got action and lies. Brad Pitt must have felt life was imitating art after making this movie. For instance, is it not particularly ironic that we meet Mr and Mrs Smith at a marriage counselling session?
While rumours of romantic liaisons on set have kept gossip columnists frothing at the mouth for weeks, the movie itself looks set to keep action movie fans happy with a satisfying feast of thrills.
We all know a Mr and Mrs Smith, but I bet the couple you know aren't as scandalous as this. On the surface, John Smith (Brad Pitt) and his wife Jane (Angelina Jolie) are a pretty but bored couple whose marriage and suburban lifestyle have become monotonous and ordinary. Their secret lives, however, are anything but. I'm not talking transvestism or obsessions with Alan Titchmarsh here.
John and Jane are both legendary assassins who kill for competing organisations and their separate lives are about to meet in one hell of a collision. Discovering their next target is their own spouse, the violence gets deadly, the sexual tension simmering and the action gripping as bazookas get introduced into the bedroom.
Directed by Doug Liman who brought us The Bourne Supremacy, this tale of marital struggle promises to become quite an adrenaline-fuelled ride. Angelina Jolie gets to put her menacing pout and Tomb Raider killing techniques to good use, while Brad Pitt gets to flash his weapon yet again in this vicious battle to outsmart one another and become the deadliest of assassins. Well, I suppose it's one way to sort out a marriage.
Truth might be stranger than fiction, but is fiction more entertaining than truth? If Mr and Mrs Smith gets as many tongues wagging as its stars alleged exploits, then it will be a spectacle to witness indeed.
